It was May 20th 2002 when Timor-Leste was officially recognised as an independent nation. Yesterday was the countries 11th anniversary.
In an almost perfect alignment of dates, my exhibition of work from Timor-Leste opened a day before the anniversary. The turnout was great and all the hard work paid off. I owe a big thank you to all involved, Chris the curator, Jen from Art Est and all others!
Here is a multimedia piece that is being presented as part of my Timor-Leste: Moving forward, looking back exhibition at Art Est. Art School & Gallery. Below are three triptychs that are currently being featured as part of the exhibition.
A phone, a rolleiflex and a Europe train trip
I am currently writing from Berlin and the pictures below are from a train trip from Innsbruck in Austria to Berlin. Yesterday we spent the day on two trains, Innsbruck – Zurich – Berlin. I have been shooting very little here in Europe and it has nearly all been film. As someone who has only real shot black and white film it has been rather exciting putting colour film through the rolleiflex. At one stage yesterday when I was in Innsbruck I was out of film and started playing around with using my iPhone to capture what I could see through the viewfinder.
